Starting This Weekend, Seoul Climate Companion Card Can Also Be Used on Gimpo Gold Line

Commuting and Schooling Between Seoul and Gimpo Remain at the Existing 60,000 KRW Range

Starting from the weekend of the 30th, the Climate Companion Card, an unlimited public transportation pass in Seoul, will also be usable on the Gimpo Gold Line.

According to Seoul City on the 29th, Seoul and Gimpo signed the 'Seoul-Gimpo Climate Companion Card Participation Business Agreement' last December and have been working on system development. After about four months, the service is being expanded to the Gimpo Gold Line. As a result, citizens commuting or attending school between Seoul and Gimpo can enjoy the benefits of the Climate Companion Card for around 60,000 KRW per month.

The applicable section covers the entire Gimpo Gold Line (10 stations). Although it is outside the Seoul city boundary, it can be used at around 60,000 KRW without any additional fare increase. The existing Climate Companion Cards priced at 65,000 KRW (including Ttareungi bike) and 62,000 KRW, released at the end of January this year, can be used as they are.

Citizens who wish to newly use the Climate Companion Card can download and charge Mobile T-money for free on Android-based mobile phones. For those who want to purchase a physical card, convenience stores inside the transfer passage at Gimpo Airport Station and customer safety offices at Seoul Metro Lines 1 to 8 stations can be visited.

Buses passing through Gyeonggi areas such as Goyang and Paju are also included in the usage range. When Gimpo citizens return home from Seoul late at night, they can take the Seoul Owl Bus and then catch the first train on the Gimpo Gold Line for an affordable late-night commute. Additionally, Seoul buses pass through Gyeonggi areas including Goyang, Paju, Yangju, and Uijeongbu, making them useful for travel.

Detailed information about the expansion of the Climate Companion Card to the Gimpo Gold Line can be found on the Seoul City or Gimpo City websites. Inquiries can also be made to the Seoul 120 Dasan Call Center or the Gimpo City Civil Service Call Center. Yoon Jong-jang, Director of Seoul City Urban Transportation Office, said, "The Climate Companion Card embodies the value of 'companionship with the vulnerable' and is a policy introduced not only for Seoul citizens but also for metropolitan area residents, so we ask for the active use and interest of Gimpo citizens."
