The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced that, as of 3 p.m. on the 29th, a total of 18 locations were found to have devices suspected to be illegal cameras during a nationwide inspection of early voting stations installed in facilities under local governments.
The locations where suspected illegal camera devices were found include one place in Hwagok 8-dong, Gangseo-gu, Seoul; one place in Buk-gu, Busan; nine places in Incheon?three in Yeonsu-gu, two in Namdong-gu, three in Gyeyang-gu, and one in Bupyeong-gu; one place in Buk-gu, Ulsan Metropolitan City; and six places in Yangsan, Gyeongnam, totaling 18 locations. All of these are facilities under the jurisdiction of local governments, such as community service centers or administrative welfare centers. Among these facilities, some are places to be used as counting stations for the upcoming April 10 general election, and some were previously used as early voting stations.
After devices suspected to be illegal cameras were discovered at early voting stations in Incheon and Yangsan the previous day, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety ordered a nationwide inspection of early voting stations under local governments. The targets of the inspection were 1,966 community service centers and administrative welfare centers under local governments where early voting stations are installed. The remaining 1,599 early voting stations were reportedly inspected by the National Election Commission.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety is expected to release the final results of the nationwide inspection after 6 p.m. today.
