SG Plans Local Revisit for Ukraine Road Reconstruction Project... "Coordinating Schedule with Both Governments"

Eco-friendly asphalt concrete manufacturer SG announced on the 29th that it is in discussions with the governments of Korea and Ukraine to participate in Ukraine's road reconstruction project and is planning a revisit to the site. Through in-depth discussions with both governments, SG aims to accelerate its participation and preparations for the local road reconstruction project.

SG's Ukrainian subsidiary, SG Ukraine, established on the 18th, is reportedly negotiating with a local steel company for the road reconstruction project. They procure steel slag, a major waste product from the steel industry, to manufacture their independently developed eco-friendly asphalt concrete called "Eco Steel Ascon."

SG expects that road paving using Eco Steel Ascon could be possible locally as early as the first half of this year. To quickly supply asphalt concrete to the planned paving areas, SG plans to acquire a local asphalt concrete plant.

An SG representative stated, "This revisit to Ukraine is to check the specific progress of the road reconstruction project and coordinate the slag supply schedule. We are fully preparing to ensure that our eco-friendly asphalt concrete can be utilized in the reconstruction of the local road network spanning from Kyiv in the north to Odesa in the south of Ukraine."

Meanwhile, Eco Steel Ascon developed by SG has more than twice the strength of regular asphalt concrete, which helps suppress pothole formation and reduce noise. In particular, it uses industrial waste slag instead of natural materials such as aggregates and sand, resulting in reduced waste disposal costs and prevention of forest destruction.
