Jeong Un-cheon, the People Power Party candidate for Jeonju-eul, began his official campaign on the 28th by climbing onto a hamgeo. Hamgeo refers to a cart used to transport criminals.

On the same day, Jeong held a press conference in front of the Jeonbuk Provincial Office and said, "I was shocked to see that more than 50% support was given to Lee Seong-yoon (Democratic Party), who has only been in Jeonju for a month, due to the growing anger against the Yoon Seok-yeol administration." He shaved his head as a sign of taking responsibility for failing to properly understand the hearts of the residents and citizens. He also climbed onto the hamgeo as a gesture of apology.

Jeong said, "In this election, we stand at a crossroads: whether to elect Jeong Un-cheon and open an era of leap forward through bipartisan cooperation, or to return to an isolated island under the past Democratic Party's one-party dominance." He added, "I will not be an opposition lawmaker who only makes noise, but a ruling party three-term lawmaker who will meet the president directly, speak frankly, and negotiate decisively."

Jeong also posted on his Facebook on the same day a message titled 'I will embrace your pain and anger.' He said, "I apologize for not understanding the anger of Jeonju citizens toward the Yoon Seok-yeol government. I love Jeonju very much," adding, "With firm determination, I shaved my head and climbed onto the hamgeo. As a communication channel to the central government, I will negotiate directly with the Yoon Seok-yeol administration."
