International Disc Dog Competition Held at Gangajisup

The representative disc dog competition in Korea, the 'Korea Disc Dog National (KDDN) Championship 2024,' will be held for two days starting from the 20th of next month at Jinsim-euro Ganeun Sup, Gangajisup. Gangajisup has been providing the venue and sponsoring the competition annually since the 2nd KDDN Championship was held in 2022.

The KDDN Championship, now in its 4th year, serves as a preliminary round for the international disc dog competition, the 'United States Disc Dog National (USDDN) World Finals,' and as a selection event for promising disc dog talents. The KDDN Organizing Committee hosts the event, with the Animal and People Association overseeing it. Official sponsors include pet specialty companies Daewoong Pet, ANF, Dr. HOLI, and PUPPING.

Those wishing to participate in the KDDN Championship can register by email or mail by the 14th of next month. Participants can download the application form from the official KDDN website, fill it out, and submit it. Detailed information is also available through the Animal and People Association and Gangajisup websites.

The KDDN Championship is conducted according to USDDN official rules and features two events: 'Toss & Fetch' and 'Freestyle.' It is divided into the Free Professional division and the Championship (Qualifier) division. A total of eight teams, those placing 1st to 4th in each of the two events, will earn the right to advance to the '2024 USDDN World Finals' held in Missouri, USA, in October.

World disc dog stars will serve as judges at the KDDN Championship to enhance the fairness and professionalism of the competition and its results. Among the judges are world-renowned disc dog authority Yachi Hirai (Japan) and Ivona Androva (Czech Republic), who served as a USDDN judge in 2023, both visiting Korea in their capacity as judges.

A representative from Gangajisup stated, “The KDDN Championship is expected to be the only international disc dog competition held in Korea this year, following last year.” They added, “With registrations and inquiries already coming in from disc dog participants in Japan, China, and other countries, we expect the event to be held successfully.”
