Spring Renewal Initiative ... 'Active Busan with Busan Citizens!'
Busan's representative citizen communication channel, the city's official YouTube channel ‘BusanTube,’ is transforming to become more fun, informative, and fresh.
Busan City (Mayor Park Hyung-jun) is revamping the official YouTube channel ‘BusanTube’ to welcome spring.
The main direction of this channel revamp is 'Active Busan with Busan Citizens!' This means focusing on expanding citizen participation opportunities and vividly introducing the lively scenes of city administration.
First, Season 2 of the Busan citizen character web documentary ‘Busan Deokhummentary,’ which received great interest and acclaim last year with over 1 million total views, will be released in May.
‘Busan Deokhummentary’ is an interview-based web documentary that introduces the charm of Busan through the eyes of Busan citizens who love the city. Season 1 featured stories about Busan buses, Geumjeongsan Mountain, and bicycle enthusiasts. Season 2 will capture even more Busan-like stories and scenes such as Busan table tennis, public bathhouses, and sea swimming.
Next, to enhance communication with Busan citizens and expand channel participation, the winning entries from the ‘Find My Favorite Month’ event story contest will be showcased monthly as the representative channel art (banner image) on the ‘BusanTube’ channel.
Notably, Busan webtoon artists are responsible for creating images for the channel art based on these stories, adding special meaning. Different channel art based on various stories will be presented each month to increase viewing enjoyment.
‘Find My Favorite Month’ was an event held last February that publicly solicited citizens’ stories about ‘the month I like the most’ and produced the winning entries into channel art images with webtoon artists for BusanTube. A total of 10 stories were selected.
The existing news content ‘Busan Magazine,’ which focused on information delivery, will be newly revamped into ‘Weekend do it!,’ a content series emphasizing on-site experience and engagement.
‘Weekend do it!’ plans to break away from information-centered content and dynamically introduce various weekend scenes and programs in Busan.
Newly appointed reporter Lee Soo-min will visit cultural sites, festivals, performances, and more in Busan to personally experience and share the vibrant city life.
The first episode, covering the Daejeo Tomato Festival, was posted on March 27, and new episodes will be uploaded every Wednesday.
In response to the recent rise in citizen interest in public servant creators, the city will introduce ‘Jeong·Su of Busan,’ featuring city officials, and ‘Woni’s Self-Sufficiency,’ starring policy officers directly.
‘Jeong·Su of Busan’ features city official Jeong Soo-young selecting key city administration keywords and introducing them in a short-form format within 60 seconds.
‘Woni’s Self-Sufficiency’ is newly planned and produced content where a policy officer personally appears to promote the policies they are in charge of. This self-sufficient promotion by the official who knows the policies best will explain everything from civil complaints to newly implemented policies in an easy-to-understand way for all citizens.
Kim Jae-hak, the city spokesperson, said, “As BusanTube is Busan’s representative citizen communication channel, we will strive to make it a more useful and enjoyable channel by expanding citizen participation through this revamp.” He added, “We plan to expand communication touchpoints between BusanTube and citizens by conducting various online and offline events together with the citizens.”
