Gyeonggi Province inspected restaurants and other establishments in multi-use facilities and identified two violators.
Gyeonggi Province announced on the 29th that from March 18 to 22, it conducted a joint hygiene inspection with city and county governments targeting a total of 958 restaurants and other establishments within multi-use facilities across the province, confirming violations at two locations.
This inspection was carried out targeting food handling businesses such as general restaurants, rest area restaurants, and instant food manufacturing and processing businesses located in spring flower viewing facilities, amusement parks, campgrounds, and nearby areas frequently visited by travelers such as train stations, terminals, airports, and highway rest stops, in anticipation of increased outdoor activities during the spring outing season.
During this inspection, Gyeonggi Province identified two violations: one establishment failed to conduct health checkups for cooks, and one establishment did not complete hygiene education.
The identified businesses will be subject to administrative measures such as sanctions by the relevant local governments and will undergo re-inspection within six months.
Along with hygiene inspections such as measuring the acid value of frying oil and storage temperature, Gyeonggi Province also conducted education and publicity to prevent food poisoning and food safety accidents during this inspection.
Meanwhile, during last year’s spring outing season inspection of food handling businesses in multi-use facilities, 4 out of 1,267 establishments were found to be in violation of the Food Sanitation Act.
A Gyeonggi Province official stated, "We will continue to conduct pre-inspections targeting facilities frequently used by residents according to the season to create an environment where safe and hygienic food can be provided."
