Suicide Prevention Content Contest from April 1 to 19
Open to All Jungnang-gu Residents, Suicide Prevention Content Up to 5 Cuts Eligible for Award
Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) is holding a contest for ‘Suicide Prevention Content’ to raise awareness about suicide prevention and improve residents' perceptions.
Every year, the period from March to May is considered a high-risk time for suicide. In particular, spring overlaps with graduation and job-seeking seasons, increasing social pressure on young people, and seasonal changes are known to easily trigger insomnia and depression relapse.
Accordingly, the district has launched an intensive campaign to spread awareness of suicide prevention along with the content contest.
First, the contest was organized to discover content utilizing Jungnang-gu’s suicide prevention character ‘Annyeongi’ and the 24-hour suicide prevention counseling hotline 109, aiming to raise awareness of the district’s suicide prevention projects and suicide crisis response information.
The contest requires creating content related to suicide prevention in the form of card news suitable for posting on SNS, within 5 cuts, and submitting it via email. The contest period is from April 1 to 19, and anyone residing in Jungnang-gu can participate. Detailed information including submission documents can be found on the Jungnang-gu Mental Health Welfare Center website.
In addition, to intensively spread awareness of suicide prevention, the district plans to reach out to residents through various methods such as ▲ suicide prevention awareness surveys ▲ distribution of suicide crisis response information posters ▲ operation of suicide prevention promotion booths.
Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi said, “I hope this contest will be an opportunity to think together about the issue of suicide and further to care warmly for neighbors and check on each other’s well-being.”
The district operates two Todak Todak Mental Health Counseling Centers that provide professional psychological counseling to care for residents’ mental health. Especially, the second center, which opened on the 5th, is the largest in Seoul. Any Jungnang-gu resident can use the counseling centers by visiting in advance or making a phone reservation.
