April 8: Airport Bus Route 6008 Significantly Shortened, Stops Reduced from 27 to 19
Enhancing Commuting and Incheon Airport Access Convenience, Ensuring Community Mobility and Infrastructure
Commuting and access to Incheon Airport from Yeongdeungpo are expected to become more convenient.
Yeongdeungpo District (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced the launch of a new "commuter-tailored bus" connecting Mullae-dong and major downtown areas to improve public transportation convenience for residents, and the shortening of the airport bus route to Incheon Airport.
Since public transportation is directly linked to residents' daily lives, the district is determined to diversify routes to cover nearby metropolitan areas, eliminate transportation disparities, and resolve transportation complaints.
In particular, the "commuter-tailored bus" was prepared to address the lack of public transportation in the Mullae-dong area and the daily difficulties faced by residents due to long commuting times.
Starting April 1, the Mullae-dong commuter bus No. 8671 will begin its first operation with the first bus at 6:30 AM. Departing from Mullae-dong, the route passes Mullae Middle School, Mullae Station, Yeongdeungpo Station, Yeouido Transfer Center, Mapo Station, and turns around at Ahyeon Elementary School. It operates a total of 10 times on weekdays from 6:30 AM to 9:05 AM, with intervals of about 15 minutes.
As a result, the commuting network to ▲Yeongdeungpo Station ▲Yeouido ▲Mapo Station will be established, expanding the living infrastructure and residents' mobility rights in Mullae-dong, a densely populated residential area that previously had limited city bus routes.
Additionally, from April 8, the route of airport bus No. 6008 will be shortened. The total number of stops in one direction will be significantly reduced from 27 to 19. The route, which was previously curved and passed through city areas, will be reorganized into a more direct line, connecting directly to Incheon Airport without passing through Gangseo District or Gimpo Airport.
This shortening of the route aims to enhance convenience for Incheon Airport users, as the previous route had many stops resulting in low user share and satisfaction.
Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo District, said, "We deeply empathize with the inconveniences residents have experienced on site and have established the 'commuter-tailored bus' and shortened the Incheon Airport bus route to resolve them. We will do our best to prepare various measures to improve residents' convenience, such as alleviating public transportation congestion and enhancing mobility rights."
