Chinese home appliance company Xiaomi launched its first self-developed electric vehicle, the SU7, on the 28th.
Xiaomi stated that the SU7 can travel up to 800 km on a single charge, has a top speed of 265 km/h, and accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 2.78 seconds.
The vehicle's batteries are supplied by China's BYD and CATL.
Earlier, Xiaomi's CEO Lei Jun announced an investment of 10 billion USD, approximately 13.5 trillion KRW, into the electric vehicle business three years ago. Subsequently, Xiaomi partnered with the state-owned Beijing Automotive Group (BAIC) and unveiled the SU7 for the first time last December.
This contrasts with Apple, which recently withdrew from its electric vehicle project after nearly a decade of effort. Notably, Xiaomi, once called a copycat of Apple, is now emerging as a leading player among big tech companies in the electric vehicle sector.
Some experts pointed out that in the price-competitive Chinese electric vehicle market, the price of Xiaomi's newly launched electric vehicle is relatively high.
