Saltlux Joins the 'Korea AI PC Alliance'

Saltlux announced on the 28th that it will join the Korea AI PC Alliance (K-APA), which consists of domestic artificial intelligence (AI) companies and educational institutions, as a member company.

Saltlux plans to quickly secure competitiveness in the on-device AI market by collaborating with member companies and Intel Korea to build an AI ecosystem and nurture talent.

As the increase in infrastructure costs due to the complexity of generative AI models and the need for data security have emerged as new issues in the AI industry, on-device AI has gained attention this year. K-APA member companies will not only jointly conduct innovative research and development projects related to global on-device AI technologies but also actively collaborate to enter the global market by jointly participating in domestic and overseas conferences.

A total of 17 companies and educational institutions participate as members of K-APA. To build an on-device AI software ecosystem, Saltlux, ESTsoft, Polaris Office, Icecream Edu, MusicPlat, EQBR Holdings, and XOsoft are cooperating. For the creation of an on-device AI hardware ecosystem, ATEC, Daewoo Lucoms, TG Sambo, Cineexzone, Intec & Company, Coit, and PCDirect have stepped forward.

The education sector, including talent discovery and instructor training, is handled by the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Korea University of Technology and Education, and Dong-Ah Institute of Media and Arts. The Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry plans to support member companies with excellent personnel by developing an educational curriculum reflecting the latest AI technologies, and will hold a hackathon competition in collaboration with Intel Korea in April.

K-APA is expected to further contribute to nurturing future companies by providing mentoring and consulting for the global corporate collaboration program "On-Device AI Super Gap Challenge," announced on the 21st by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and Intel Korea, which aims to foster AI startups.

At the agreement ceremony, Saltlux CEO Lee Kyung-il said, "As not only the miniaturization and optimization of generative AI models but also collaborative models such as MoE (Mixture of Experts) develop, PC and on-device AI technologies are becoming increasingly important," adding, "We expect the alliance’s role and activities to grow significantly."

Intel Korea, participating as an advisor company in K-APA, stated that it will support member companies with various technologies owned by Intel, such as OpenVINO and OneAPI, and actively contribute to the successful overseas expansion of companies through PoC project support and investor networking events.
