Progressive Party Gwangju Branch, 'Victory Resolution' on the First Day of Official Election Campaign for the General Election

The Progressive Party Gwangju Metropolitan City Branch held a press conference at Yangsan Intersection in Buk-gu, Gwangju, on the morning of the 28th, the first day of official election campaigning for the 22nd general election, declaring their determination to "achieve a political revolution in Gwangju with one Progressive Party seat victory in the election."

Kim Joo-eop, Chairman of the Progressive Party Gwangju City Branch, who spoke at the event, said, "Over the past four years, we have lived and worked closely with residents, studying and practicing how to better represent public opinion and how to work harder for the people, learning from the residents," emphasizing, "Now is the time to demonstrate that capability."

He continued, "I am confident and promise that every precious vote the respected citizens of Gwangju cast for the Progressive Party candidate will surely bring positive changes to the lives of Gwangju citizens and the politics of the Republic of Korea," appealing, "I ask you to give your full support to the Progressive Party candidate."

Kim Hae-jung, Regional Committee Chairperson for Seo-gu Eul, said, "The whole country is paying attention to Gwangju. If the prosecutorial dictatorship is extended in the presidential election three years from now, it would be a disaster of disasters for the Republic of Korea," asking, "Shouldn't we reclaim the government?"

She added, "Gwangju, please respond. If the Democratic Party sweeps all eight seats, the next presidential election will be bleak," appealing, "Please send exactly one Progressive Party candidate among the eight National Assembly members to the National Assembly this time."

Furthermore, she emphasized, "One Progressive Party seat in Gwangju is a definite seat to judge Yoon Seok-yeol’s prosecutorial dictatorship and a seat that will breathe new life into the powerless politics of Gwangju," urging, "Citizens, please create one Progressive Party seat that will revive Gwangju and set the Republic of Korea straight."

Yoon Min-ho, candidate for Buk-gu Eul, said, "When I visit neighborhoods, many shops are closed and alleyway markets are dying. Residents say they have no more to spend and no hope," emphasizing, "Due to high interest rates and high prices, it has become harder than during the COVID-19 period or the IMF crisis, and people are struggling with large and small debts."

He continued, "I will shift the economic policy focus from tax cuts for the wealthy to revitalizing people’s livelihoods, making the local alleys thrive and creating a virtuous economic cycle so that Buk-gu residents can live without worries," promising, "I will be a politician who practices the belief that 'people’s livelihoods are progress' and 'people-first principle.'"

He also expressed his ambition, saying, "If you elect me, Yoon Min-ho, as the one Progressive Party seat in Gwangju, I will judge Yoon Seok-yeol and, representing the Progressive Party, unite with Leader Lee Jae-myung, Cho Kuk, and others to carry out great politics of solidarity to prevent the extension of prosecutorial dictatorship following Yoon Seok-yeol in the next presidential election."

Meanwhile, from early dawn on the 28th, the first day of the 22nd National Assembly election official campaign, the seven Progressive Party candidates in Gwangju, along with campaign workers and supporters, gathered in Yangsan-dong, Buk-gu, a strategic constituency, after greeting voters and commuters at major points.

Despite the rainy and gloomy weather, they smiled brightly, waved to citizens, and chanted slogans, raising the momentum on the first day of the campaign.

The Progressive Party fielded candidates in seven constituencies in Gwangju: Kim Mi-hwa (Dongnam Eul), Kang Seung-chul (Seo-gu Gap), Kim Hae-jung (Seo-gu Eul), Kim Joo-eop (Buk-gu Gap), Yoon Min-ho (Buk-gu Eul), Jeong Hee-sung (Gwangsan-gu Gap), and Jeon Ju-yeon (Gwangsan-gu Eul). The party has selected Yoon Min-ho in Buk-gu Eul as its strategic candidate and is concentrating all efforts to secure one Progressive Party seat in Gwangju.
