Handonghun "Politics is like a dog"... Minjoo "To a pig's eyes, everything is a pig"

Handonghun "Politics is important... The problem is doing it like a dog"
Kim Minseok "Anxious Donmok, we conduct elections with dignity"

The Democratic Party of Korea responded to Han Dong-hoon, the Emergency Response Committee Chairman of the People Power Party, who said, "The problem is people who do politics like dogs," by citing the old saying of Muhak Daesa's Bulandonmok (佛眼豚目). It means that evaluations differ depending on perspective, so one should not judge solely from their own viewpoint.

Kim Min-seok, the Situation Room Chief, said to reporters at the National Assembly on the afternoon of the 28th, "Muhak Daesa left the saying, 'If you look with the eyes of Buddha, everything looks like Buddha; if you look with the eyes of a pig, everything looks like a pig,' which is the story of Bulandonmok." He also mentioned the American election proverb, "When they go low, We go high," emphasizing, "We will appeal to the public with dignity throughout the remaining period."

Earlier that day, during a campaign in Sinchon, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, Chairman Han said, "Politics is very important because it can change all of your lives," and added, "The problem is people who do politics like dogs, not politics itself." He also appealed, "I will devote myself for you and the public good," and "Please do not let criminals rule over you."

Regarding these remarks, the Democratic Party said, "We hope candidates refrain from excessive responses," and "The central party will take appropriate measures, so please focus on pointing out the failures of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration’s livelihood economy and promoting regional pledges," in an internal notice. Kim said, "This notice was issued with the intention not to approach this election with the same perspective as Chairman Han."

Additionally, Kim Min-seok stated, "There have been continuous reports that the public security intelligence agency is considering announcing North Korean and anti-communist intelligence information or media reports during the official election period," and "This includes specific details that they intend to influence the election by leaking to the media information about political party members who had contact with suspects in anti-communist cases, under the pretext of media response to cases accused of illegal surveillance."

He added, "Even though the suspect is not a current offender, if they deliberately spread evidence obtained in the past through the media timed to this general election period, we will seriously suspect their intentions and hold them accountable."

The illegal surveillance mentioned by Kim appears to be a case filed by the opposition. The Democratic Party’s satellite party, the Democratic United Party, and the Innovation Party of Jo Guk recently filed a complaint with the High-ranking Officials’ Crime Investigation Unit (PCC) alleging that the prosecution illegally collected and managed digital data beyond the scope of the search warrant.
