Kang Ho-dong, President of NongHyup Central Association, "Frequent Crop Damage Due to Abnormal Climate... Additional Measures to Be Prepared" Kang Ho-dong, Chairman of the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation, is giving a greeting at a luncheon meeting with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs press corps held in Sejong City on the 28th.

Kang Ho-dong, Chairman of the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation (NACF), announced on the 28th, "NACF will proactively provide 50 billion won in disaster funds without interest for crop damage and plans to prepare additional measures."


On the same day, Chairman Kang held his first press briefing since taking office in Sejong and said, "Crop damage caused by abnormal weather is occurring frequently."


Chairman Kang stated, "Recently, horticultural farms including strawberries, melons, and watermelons have suffered significant damage due to warming and lack of sunlight," emphasizing, "I will always pay close attention to the difficulties faced by farmers on the ground."


He reiterated the changes and innovations of the NACF announced as his inaugural statement. Chairman Kang said, "Upon taking office, I revealed a new vision and core values for executives and staff, embodying a strong conviction to prepare for the next 60 years of NACF and to become an NACF loved by farmers and the public," adding, "Only bold change and innovation efforts can guarantee the sustainability of agriculture and rural areas and secure the continuity of NACF."


As a key task for change, he pointed to strengthening regional agricultural cooperatives. Chairman Kang emphasized, "The fundamental role of NACF is to improve the economic, social, and cultural status of farmers and enhance their practical benefits, and it is the regional agricultural cooperatives that carry out this role on the front lines," adding, "NACF and its affiliates, including the bank, will firmly establish themselves as organizations that support agricultural cooperatives in performing these roles well."


Finally, he said, "Since the 25th, NACF has been holding a discount event on agricultural and livestock products at Nonghyup Hanaro Mart nationwide for 19 days until the 12th of next month, actively participating in the government's efforts to stabilize prices," and added, "NACF will respond swiftly and wisely to various environmental changes together with its 120,000 executives and employees."
