Daejeon City Constructs Jeongnimgyo as a Premium Bridge... 13 Billion Won Investment

Daejeon City announced that the tentatively named Jeongrimgyo Bridge, included in the road construction section between Jeongrim Middle School and Sajonggyo Bridge, will be built as a premium bridge.

The road construction project between Jeongrim Middle School and Sajonggyo Bridge is a bypass road of Gyebaek-ro aimed at alleviating traffic congestion on National Route 4. It is a four-lane road with a total length of 2.4 km, including a 980 m tunnel and a 135 m bridge.

The city designed the 135 m bridge to be wrapped by an asymmetrical curved sculpture that naturally harmonizes with the surrounding natural scenery such as Jaenggibong Peak and Yudeungcheon Stream.

Additionally, the sculpture symbolizes a cycle of coexistence and mutual growth, representing the connection between Jeongrim-dong in Seo-gu and Anyeong-dong in Jung-gu, which were previously separated by mountains and rivers, forcing a long detour via Gyebaek-ro.

At the top of the sculpture arch, LED indicator lights display real-time air quality information through color changes, highlighting Daejeon's smart image. The nighttime lighting expresses blue and green, symbolizing Yudeungcheon Stream and Jaenggibong Peak, through a spectrum of light, providing enjoyment to citizens who use and view the bridge.

The road construction project between Jeongrim Middle School and Sajonggyo Bridge selected a construction company in December 2023 and will officially commence in June this year. The premium design of Jeongrimgyo Bridge is planned for the first half of next year after detailed design and landscape review, with a project cost of 13 billion KRW allocated solely for the bridge.

Choi Jong-moon, Director of the Transportation and Construction Bureau of Daejeon City, stated, “We will incorporate long-term vision and philosophy even into a single bridge to distinctively express the city’s future,” and added, “Upon completion of the road construction and premium bridge project between Jeongrim Middle School and Sajonggyo Bridge, it will provide great convenience to citizens by improving accessibility and reducing travel time.”
