To Improve the Treatment and Status of Social Workers
The Uiryeong-gun Social Workers Association in Gyeongnam held the 18th Social Workers' Day event on the 27th at the Uiryeong-gun Uibyeong Culture and Sports Center.
At the ceremony, approximately 200 social workers working in social welfare facilities attended, including County Governor Oh Tae-wan, Provincial Assemblyman Kwon Won-man, Vice Chairman Yoon Byung-yeol, and county council members.
A plaque of appreciation was presented to Governor Oh, who has actively supported the improvement of social workers' rights and working conditions, in commemoration of Social Workers' Day.
During the first part of the event, the ceremony and the 'Rich Uiryeong Welfare Quiz' were held to promote unity among members, and in the second part, a cheerful sports day was conducted with activities such as rolling large tires and the rubber shoe game, creating an enjoyable event for all participants.
In his congratulatory speech, Governor Oh said, "I believe our society is warmer and happier thanks to the social workers who quietly fulfill their roles in difficult places," and added, "As Uiryeong is known as Korea's richest area, we will do our best to ensure that no one is left behind." He also stated, "We will continue to strive to improve treatment and promote the rights of social workers so that they can work with pride in a stable environment."
Meanwhile, Social Workers' Day has been designated and celebrated annually on March 30th since the enactment of the 'Act on the Improvement of Treatment and Status of Social Workers' on March 30, 2011, to foster pride and encourage social workers.
