On the 28th, LG Uplus announced that it has signed a business agreement with Yesco to develop urban gas pipeline diagnostic technology based on AI and big data, and will proceed with the development of digital transformation (DX) solutions for industrial sites.

Yesco is an energy solution company that supplies urban gas through approximately 3,500 km of pipelines in the Seoul and Gyeonggi urban areas, and has been collaborating with LG Uplus on IoT remote monitoring technology since 2018.

Currently, urban gas safety management utilizes an "electric method" that flows a certain level of current through pipelines to prevent corrosion. However, for pipelines installed near places where high voltage occurs, such as subways and high-voltage lines, there have been difficulties in managing corrosion due to external interference.

Through this business agreement, the two companies will cooperate to develop new IoT devices specialized for pipeline diagnostics in urban areas. They also plan to jointly build control solutions and data analysis systems that can systematically manage urban gas pipelines.

In particular, they plan to focus on developing AI-based integrated control and data analysis solutions. The AI will learn current inflow patterns to prevent external currents from interfering with the pipelines. By enabling accurate assessment of the corrosion level of each pipeline, the goal is to enhance the safety and operational efficiency of urban gas.

Lee Je-hwan, Head of Safety Technology Division at Yesco, stated, "We will do our best to operate buried pipelines more stably in increasingly complex urban and underground environments."

Park Sung-yul, Executive Vice President and Head of the Enterprise Business Group at LG Uplus, said, "We will continue to lead the digital transformation of B2B industries through cooperation with promising companies in various fields."
