Injured Back Lifting Weights at Gym
Focused Treatment, Ready for Houston Open
Injury Setback Ahead of Masters
Last year's US Open champion Wyndham Clark (USA) has encountered the setback of a back injury.
On the 27th (local time), Reuters reported, "Clark, ranked 4th in the world, injured his back a few days ago while lifting weights at a gym in Scottsdale, Arizona." Clark said, "Until yesterday, my condition was not good, but with the help of the medical team, I am now able to chip and putt," adding, "I have improved a lot in a short time and will be able to participate in this week's tournament."
However, since the injury occurred just two weeks before this year's first major tournament, the Masters Tournament, there are concerns about a decline in performance. Clark is considered a contender to challenge world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler (USA) at the Masters, which opens on April 11. This year, Clark won the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in February on the PGA Tour and has been on an upswing, finishing as runner-up in consecutive weeks at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and the "fifth major," The Players Championship, in March.
Clark will compete in the PGA Tour Texas Children's Houston Open (total prize money $9.1 million), which begins on the 28th at Memorial Park Golf Course (par 70, 7,435 yards) in Houston, Texas. He will start the first round with Kim Si-woo and Tony Finau (USA) at 2:53 AM Korean time on the 29th.
