US Treasury Adds Sanctions on 6 North Korean Nationals and 2 Entities

The U.S. Department of the Treasury has imposed new sanctions on six North Korean individuals and two third-country entities for violations related to sanctions against North Korea, aiming to cut off the "funding sources" used for North Korea's development of weapons of mass destruction (WMD).

On the 27th (local time), the Treasury added six North Korean nationals?Han Cheol-man, Jeon Yeon-geun, Jeong Seong-ho, Oh In-jun, Ri Dong-hyok, and Yoo Bu-ung?and two companies registered in third countries, namely "Alias" registered in Vladivostok, Russia, and "Pioneer Bencont Star Real Estate" registered in the United Arab Emirates, to the sanctions list.

The Treasury explained that the newly sanctioned individuals generated profits and facilitated financial transactions on behalf of North Korea, thereby supporting North Korea's WMD programs. It also stated that these sanctions were imposed through cooperation between South Korea and the United States.
