Malaysia Faces Controversy Over Socks with 'Allah' Inscription... Molotov Cocktail Thrown at Store

Socks bearing the name of Allah, the monotheistic God of Islam, are being sold in Malaysia, an Islamic country, sparking growing controversy.

According to local media on the 27th, a convenience store belonging to the KK Supermart chain located in the Tapa area of Perak state, which sold the socks, was targeted with a Molotov cocktail thrown into the store the previous morning. Several employees were working inside at the time, but the incident did not result in an explosion or fire. Police are investigating the case, and it is believed to be a retaliatory act related to the sale of the Allah socks.

Legal controversy is also intensifying. The prosecution charged five people yesterday, including the founding couple of KK Supermart and officials from the sock supplier, on grounds of 'insulting the religious feelings of others.' If found guilty, they could face up to one year in prison.

In Islam, placing words revered by Muslims on the feet, which are the lowest part of the body and emit odor, is considered an insult. Amid ongoing public criticism, King Ibrahim and the government have also announced plans for strict punishment.
