The master plan for the Changwon National Industrial Complex, unveiled by Changwon Special City on this day, contains detailed implementation tasks for the future Changwon National Industrial Complex to leap to the center of South Korea, based on four major strategies: ▲ accelerating the digital transformation ▲ fostering high value-added future new industries ▲ demand-based talent development ▲ and the convergence of industrial and living spaces.

The city plans to finalize the master plan by reflecting the opinions derived from this meeting and announce the future vision at the 50th anniversary ceremony of the designation of the Changwon National Industrial Complex on April 24.

Hong Nam-pyo, mayor of Changwon Special City, said, “I thank the Development Council members, CEOs and executives of companies in the industrial complex, and local university officials who attended this meeting to think together about the future development plan of Changwon. In 2023, the Changwon National Industrial Complex, which surpassed 60 trillion won in production and 18 billion dollars in exports for the first time in history, stands now at the starting point for a great future transformation.”

He added, “Using the essential condition of digital transformation as a turning point, the Changwon National Industrial Complex will prepare a new growth engine for South Korea’s industrial development over the next 50 years, and we will spare no support for innovation.”

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the designation of the Changwon National Industrial Complex, which has driven South Korea’s industrial economy growth. Changwon Special City has designated the period from April 23 to 27 as a commemorative week to share the achievements of the complex and announce a vision for the great transformation over the next 50 years.

During the commemorative week, events such as the ceremony and unveiling of a symbolic sculpture, a conference on new technology trends, overseas industrial complex innovation cases, local talent development, and a citizen festival celebrating companies will be held.

In particular, on the 27th, a concert and cultural experience events will be held at Changwon Square to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the designation of the Changwon National Industrial Complex together with the citizens of Changwon Special City.
