The 'Solar Energy Companies Joint Utilization Research Center,' which verifies the performance of products from domestic solar energy companies, has been established in the Daejeon International Science and Business Belt.

On the 27th, Daejeon City held a completion ceremony for the 'Solar Energy Companies Joint Utilization Research Center' to support domestic solar energy companies in securing breakthrough technologies.

The research center is located on a 9,840㎡ site within the International Science and Business Belt, with a total floor area of 7,865㎡ across one basement floor and three above-ground floors. Since 2020, Daejeon City, together with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Institute of Energy Technology, has invested 49.2 billion KRW.

The research center is responsible for verifying the manufacturing processes and performance of products developed by companies at the pre-mass production stage, supporting ultra-high efficiency, expanded applicability, and commercialization promotion of domestic solar energy company products.

In particular, equipped with the nation's only 100MW-class solar cell and module testing and certification facilities, it is expected to act as a catalyst to accelerate the development of globally leading technologies and new product creation in domestic solar cell and module manufacturing companies as well as related materials, parts, and equipment industries.

Jang Ho-jong, Deputy Mayor for Economy and Science of Daejeon City, stated, “The Solar Energy Companies Joint Utilization Research Center will lead the research and development of next-generation solar products and pioneer future energy utilization through industry-academia-research education.”
