Start of Inspection for Hydrogen Commercial Vehicle Pressure Vessels and Certification of Hydrogen Refueling Station Components

The Korea Gas Safety Corporation held an opening ceremony for the Hydrogen Product Testing and Evaluation Center on the 27th at the Seongbon Industrial Complex in Eumseong-gun, Chungbuk, and officially began its operations.
The center consists of an office building, a hydrogen testing building, and a parts testing building. The hydrogen testing building will conduct pressure vessel testing for hydrogen commercial vehicles, while the parts testing building will carry out testing for KS certification of hydrogen charging station components.
In particular, the hydrogen testing building has established eight types of equipment, including hydrogen gas cyclic pressurization testing and permeability testing devices for large hydrogen commercial vehicle pressure vessels (175ℓ class), the first of their kind in Korea, to perform testing operations.
As a result, the difficulties faced by domestic companies, which previously had to outsource certification of hydrogen commercial vehicle pressure vessels to overseas testing institutions at high costs and long lead times, can now be resolved.
Park Kyung-guk, president of the Korea Gas Safety Corporation, stated, "We expect to greatly contribute to securing the global competitiveness of domestic companies through rational inspections and certification tests that prioritize safety." He added, "As the dedicated agency for hydrogen safety management, the corporation will contribute to revitalizing Korea's hydrogen economy by ensuring the safety of commercial vehicles such as hydrogen buses and hydrogen charging stations."
