Soccer Play Bringing Together 105 Children and Professional Coaches
Goheung-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Gong Young-min) announced the opening of the 2024 Cha Bum-kun Soccer School, starting with an orientation on the 26th.
As the first basic local government in the nation to operate such a program, the Goheung-gun Cha Bum-kun Soccer School has expanded in scale from last year, with 105 students participating.
The Goheung-gun Cha Bum-kun Soccer School received significant attention from other local governments due to its successful operation last year, and the participation rate of students from other regions (Suncheon, Yeosu, Gwangyang, Boseong, Jangheung) is gradually increasing.
Changes in this year’s soccer school operation compared to last year include participation from all elementary school grades, placement of professional soccer instructors, operation once a week, and co-ed classes. As before, Director Cha Bum-kun personally participates to coach the children, and all participating students are provided with uniforms and training equipment.
A representative of the Cha Bum-kun Soccer School stated, “Unlike last year, this year’s program is operated for all grades, so we will pay more attention and present a program that satisfies both parents and students.”
A parent of a participating student said, “Although we came from Yeosu, the high-quality lessons made the travel time worthwhile, and my child really enjoys it,” adding, “I hope my child continues to nurture the dream of becoming a soccer player through hard work.”
A county official said, “We are very grateful to the students and parents who passionately participate and cheer on the classes despite bad weather, and we will do our best to repay such passion and enthusiasm.”
Meanwhile, the 2024 Cha Bum-kun Soccer School will be conducted with 14 sessions in the first half and 9 sessions in the second half of the year, with various programs prepared including a summer festival in July and a winter festival in November.
