Motorola to Release Self-Contract Phone Priced Around 300,000 KRW... 'Edge40 Neo' Launching in First Half of the Year

According to the National Radio Research Agency on the 27th, Motorola Korea received certification of conformity for broadcasting and communication equipment for the 5G mobile phone it applied for the day before. This device, registered under the model number XT2403-1, is the 'Motorola Edge 40 Neo' product and is scheduled to be released within the first half of the year. A Motorola Korea official stated, "It is a lighter version of the Motorola Edge 40, which was released domestically last year," adding, "Usually, once the certification of conformity is obtained, the device is released within three months at the latest."

The Edge40 Neo is likely to be released as a mid-range unlocked phone priced between 300,000 and 400,000 KRW. The official launch price of the Motorola Edge 40, released domestically in September last year, was set at 499,000 KRW. In India, where the Edge40 Neo has already been launched, the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage variant is sold for 371,900 KRW (22,999 INR), and the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant is priced at 404,000 KRW (24,999 INR) on the official website. In the United Arab Emirates, the 12GB RAM and 256GB variant is sold for 476,600 KRW (129 AED).

A Motorola official said, "Although the price has not been finalized yet, since the Neo product is designed to remove price bubbles, it is expected to be released at a lower price than the Edge40."

According to the Indian website, the Edge40 Neo comes in four colors and features a 5000mAh battery capacity, a 6.55-inch pOLED Endless Edge Display, a 50-megapixel rear camera, and a 32-megapixel front camera.

Meanwhile, by launching unlocked smartphones, Motorola is striving to strengthen its brand presence in the domestic market. Last year, Motorola released the 'Edge 40' and the flip-type foldable phone 'Razr 40 Ultra.'
