Cheongsong-gun Holds Opening Ceremony for This Year's 'Cheongsong Forest Products University'

On the 27th, Cheongsong-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, held the opening ceremony of the Cheongsong Forest Products University at the Korea Forestry Cooperative Central Association's Comprehensive Training Center for Foresters, with about 80 attendees including invited guests and new students, marking the start of the academic schedule.

The Cheongsong Forest Products University is operated on consignment by the Comprehensive Training Center for Foresters, a specialized educational institution, to promote the forest industry and strengthen the capabilities of foresters through regionally tailored forestry education. Up to last year, it has produced 405 graduates, receiving positive responses from local foresters.

The event included a new student orientation, academic report, and issuance of admission certificates. The academic program enrolls 50 students who will take a total of 100 hours over 10 months from March to December (40 hours of mandatory courses and 60 hours of elective courses). The education combines theoretical lessons and field training to cultivate practical skills, along with a separate advanced course.

Yoon Kyung-hee, the county governor, said, “Through the Cheongsong Forest Products University, we expect to improve forestry-related technologies by providing systematic and professional knowledge on forest product cultivation, thereby increasing forestry household incomes.” She added, “We hope this will help expand eco-friendly forest product cultivation in the future.”
