Mercedes-Benz has condensed 45 years of off-road expertise into the G-Class. It includes a ladder-type frame body that enhances safety and durability, off-road reduction gears to assist driving on slopes and downhill, and three mechanical differential lock functions that help maintain traction even with only one of the four wheels gripping the surface.

Additionally, the new G-Class comes standard with adaptive adjustable damping, which was previously only available as an option in earlier generation models. The various components of the adaptive adjustable dampers are designed to withstand extreme conditions such as water, muddy roads, gravel, and dusty environments.
