12-Year-Old Son Escapes and Reveals Abuse
Shock as Abuse Details Recorded in Diary
A once-popular American parenting YouTuber with 2.5 million subscribers has been arrested on charges of child abuse, and a diary documenting the abusive acts inflicted on the children has been revealed, causing shock. On the 24th (local time), foreign media including the New York Post reported that a Utah district court found Ruby Frank (42), the operator of the YouTube channel '8passengers,' guilty of four counts of child abuse.
Jodi Hildebrandt, a 54-year-old woman who co-operated the channel with her, is also facing the same charges. Frank, a mother of six children, ran the YouTube channel '8passengers' from 2015 until 2022, before separating from her husband, documenting her and her children's daily lives. The channel once recorded nearly 2.5 million subscribers. Frank's true nature was exposed last August when her 12-year-old son, in a naked state, sought help from a neighbor. It is known that the child was trapped in the home of Frank's business partner, Jodi Hildebrandt, and escaped through a window.
The neighbor who found the child immediately reported to the police upon seeing strong adhesive tape on the child's wrists and ankles. The child had injuries on parts of the body due to being tied with ropes and was suffering from malnutrition. Subsequently, the police found Frank's 10-year-old daughter at Hildebrandt's residence, who was also malnourished. The police arrested Frank and Hildebrandt on charges of child abuse that same night.
Detailed Records of Child Torture Acts Left in Diary

During the investigation, the police additionally discovered Frank's diary containing detailed evidence of child abuse. Frank wrote in the diary, "I punished the children because they were possessed by Satan," and "If the children hesitated to be punished, I gave them more punishment."
The child abuse acts described in the diary are sadistic and grotesque, making it difficult to convey the content. The Washington County Prosecutor's Office stated, "Frank and Hildebrandt abused the children under religious extremism," adding, "They seemed to fully believe that the abuse was necessary to make the children repent for their sins and to expel Satan from their bodies."
The Utah Board of Pardons and Parole is expected to decide the exact sentences for the two soon. Although the maximum sentence for the four charges is 60 years, state law reportedly does not allow the maximum sentence to exceed 30 years.
