Geochang-gun Holds Final Report Meeting for Spatial Environment Strategy Plan Establishment Project

Designated as a Priority Promotion Area in Geochang-eup... Identification of 9 Unit Projects

Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam Province announced on the 27th that it held the final report meeting for the Geochang-gun Spatial Environment Strategic Plan Establishment Project at the county office situation room, attended by about 20 people including private experts and heads of related departments.

The Spatial Environment Strategic Plan is a project to establish an integrated master plan that considers the characteristics and historicity of the region, aimed at strengthening the design capabilities of local governments and forming an integrated regional landscape. It was selected in 2022 by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s ‘Private Expert and Spatial Environment Strategic Plan Establishment Support Contest Project’ and has been promoted since then.

So far, to establish the Spatial Environment Strategic Plan, the county analyzed the current status and various projects of Geochang-gun and derived three key zones. Among them, Geochang-eup was set as the priority promotion zone, establishing three core goals: creating a desirable Geochang-eup to live in, function linkage to strengthen place identity, and building a smart urban space with a pedestrian-centered spatial plan. Nine unit projects were discovered based on these goals.

At the report meeting, there were reports on the supplementary matters discussed in the two interim report meetings held in December last year and January this year, as well as various questions and opinions from attendees regarding the feasibility and validity of the projects derived from the Spatial Environment Strategic Plan.

Lee Byung-cheol, Deputy Governor of Geochang-gun, said, “We will take the Spatial Environment Strategic Plan being established this time as the first step toward spatial welfare for landscape formation that residents can empathize with, and will make greater efforts to create a city where people gather and live comfortably.”
