Goseong-gun Excels in 'Hope 2024 Neighbor Love Fundraising Campaign' Evaluation

Selected as the 'Best Local Government' in the Province Military Units

Goseong-gun, Gyeongnam Province, was selected as the ‘Best Institution’ among the county-level regions in Gyeongsangnam-do in the ‘Hope 2024 Neighbor Love Fundraising Campaign’ evaluation conducted by the Gyeongsangnam-do Community Chest of Korea.

Selected as the Best Local Government for Neighborly Love Fundraising Activity Evaluation.

With this Best Institution selection, the county will receive an institutional commendation and individual awards from the Gyeongnam Community Chest of Korea at the ‘Hope 2024 Neighbor Love Meritorious Person Award Ceremony’ to be held on May 30.

In particular, in this evaluation, the county received high scores in four of the six categories: ▲annual fundraising amount per capita ▲increase rate compared to the average fundraising amount over the past three years ▲fundraising amount over the past three years ▲cash fundraising ratio.

This is the result of a donation boom among the residents of Goseong despite the challenging economic conditions caused by high interest rates, high prices, and high oil prices, with participation in donations from various sectors including ▲daycare centers ▲agriculture, livestock, and fisheries organizations ▲small business owners ▲overseas Koreans ▲religious groups.

As evidence of this, as of 2023, 880 million KRW (576 million KRW in cash and 304 million KRW in kind) was raised and used to help neighbors in need.

Mayor Lee Sang-geun said, “Being selected as the Best Institution has become an opportunity to understand how high the level of community spirit is among our residents who want to live together with their neighbors,” and added, “I feel proud as one of the residents.”

Meanwhile, the ‘Warmth Sharing Nationwide Campaign,’ promoted at the national government level to comfort and encourage citizens facing various disasters, hardships, and social difficulties, has spread widely in Goseong-gun with the spring breeze, and it is expected that neighborly love fundraising and volunteer activities will continue in the future.
