Mirae Asset Global Investments announced on the 27th that it will merge its subsidiary Multi Asset Global Investments.
According to Mirae Asset Global Investments, the Financial Services Commission approved the merger of Multi Asset Global Investments into Mirae Asset Global Investments on the 20th.
Multi Asset Global Investments is a 100% subsidiary of Mirae Asset Global Investments specializing in alternative investments. In 2016, Mirae Asset Global Investments acquired San-eun Asset Management and subsequently renamed it Multi Asset Global Investments. Since then, Multi Asset Global Investments has distinguished itself as a specialized alternative investment manager in real estate, shipping, corporate finance, and NPLs. As of the end of 2023, its total assets under management (AUM) stood at approximately KRW 7 trillion. When combined with Mirae Asset Global Investments’ existing AUM of KRW 305 trillion, the total reaches KRW 312 trillion.
Mirae Asset Global Investments expects to create synergies in the alternative investment business through this merger. By consolidating the management capabilities and experience of both companies, it plans to advance Mirae Asset Group’s alternative investment business from a more long-term and global perspective. In particular, leveraging Mirae Asset Group’s global network, it will provide diverse alternative investment opportunities both domestically and internationally. Additionally, by strengthening risk management, it is anticipated to respond swiftly to the rapidly changing global macroeconomic environment and alternative investment market.
Following the merger, the funds managed by Multi Asset Global Investments will be transferred in bulk to Mirae Asset Global Investments. Mirae Asset Global Investments will succeed Multi Asset Global Investments’ collective investment business operator status and continue stable management.
Kim Young-hwan, Co-CEO of Innovation and Global Management at Mirae Asset Global Investments, said, “Through this merger, we expect to consolidate the management capabilities of both companies from a long-term and global perspective and diversify our investment portfolio. We will focus on thorough risk management and strengthening the substance of the alternative investment business to help Mirae Asset Global Investments take a step forward as a global asset manager.”
