'Osean-si Nueup-dong Industrial Area "Odor Status Survey"'

The Gyeonggi-do Institute of Health and Environment will conduct an odor status survey targeting the general industrial area of Nueup-dong, Osan City, from April to October.

The odor status survey investigates the occurrence of odors in areas where there are concerns about damage to public health and living environments. Since the Nueup-dong industrial complex was designated as an odor management area in 2011, the survey has been conducted annually.

This year, the Institute will conduct the survey at 28 locations during periods when odor generation is expected, for more than two days each half-year, with three sessions (dawn, daytime, nighttime) each time. The survey items include a total of 23 odor substances, including 22 designated odors such as complex odors and ammonia, as well as meteorological data such as temperature and wind direction.

In addition to the odor status survey, the Institute will also investigate areas within the province with chronic odor complaints.

A representative of the Institute stated, "With the expansion of residential areas around Nueup-dong, an increase in odor complaints is expected. We will do our best to prevent odor generation through continuous monitoring and contribute to the industrial development and environmental protection of the Osan area through close cooperation with the city."
