Gyeonggi Province is partnering with 25 organizations this year to promote the ‘Clean River Social Contribution Project.’
Gyeonggi Province announced on the 27th that from this month until the end of the year, it will carry out the Clean River Social Contribution Project in areas such as Anseongcheon, Hantan River basin, and Gongneungcheon in collaboration with 25 organizations including disability day care centers, residents' autonomy committees, Kia Hwaseong Plant, Seoul Milk Cooperative, and Yeoncheon-gun Facilities Management Corporation.
The main activities include ▲river trash collection ▲EM soil ball throwing (water purification microorganisms) ▲waste separation ▲aquatic plant planting ▲promotion and campaign activities on SNS and YouTube to raise public awareness.
The Healthy Oebok Bay Making Council is holding an EM mud ball throwing event as part of creating clean streams.
The participating groups will work closely with local public institutions and civic organizations to carry out community-based environmental cleanup activities.
A representative from the Gyeonggi Provincial Water Resources Headquarters said, "Following last year, this year as well, various residents including companies, disability groups, and low-income households will participate in the Clean River Social Contribution Project within the province," adding, "We hope this project will spread as a nationwide social movement in South Korea."
Gyeonggi Province will select six outstanding organizations based on this year’s performance and award them the Governor’s Commendation for Social Contribution along with plaques.
