Sold 1,500 Units in 3 Days Since Launch on the 22nd
Additional Export Negotiations Underway with Local Partners

CU announced on the 27th that it has exported two types of the ‘Yonsei Milk Cream Bread’ series to Mongolia. The exported products are two types: Milk Fresh Cream Bread and Choco Fresh Cream Bread. The total quantity is about 36,000 pieces, equivalent to the capacity of one refrigerated container.

The reason CU selected Yonsei Milk Cream Bread as an export item is to introduce popular products from K-convenience stores to local customers in Mongolia. Noting that Mongolian customers are familiar with and friendly toward Korea, the product names on the packaging are also printed in Hangul. The price is 8,800 MNT (Mongolian Tugrik, approximately 3,520 KRW).

CU exports 36,000 Yonsei Milk Cream Breads to Mongolia

Yonsei Milk Cream Bread is CU’s representative dessert product, having surpassed 50 million units in cumulative domestic sales in just over two years since its launch. The exported Milk Fresh Cream Bread and Choco Fresh Cream Bread are so popular that they account for more than 40% of Yonsei Milk Cream Bread’s sales.

The cream bread, first launched locally in Mongolia on the 22nd, sold about 1,500 units within three days (March 22?24) after its release, ranking third in sales within the refrigerated bakery category.

This is BGF Retail’s first time exporting refrigerated dessert products to Mongolia. The products arriving locally are thawed and supplied immediately according to store order quantities. BGF Retail is preparing additional exports through consultations with local partners.

CU has exported various PB products such as ramen, snacks, and beverages to more than 20 countries including the United States, China, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Mongolia, Vietnam, Malaysia, C?te d'Ivoire, and Kyrgyzstan. Starting this year, CU plans to diversify exports to more countries with an annual export target of 10 million USD. As of the end of last year, about 60 domestic small and medium-sized partner companies have entered the market directly or indirectly through approximately 520 CU stores in Mongolia, Malaysia, and other countries.

Won Hwiyun, head of BGF Retail’s Global Trading Team, said, “In Mongolia, where many young customers in their 20s and 30s reside, this product will become one of the representative Korean products.” He added, “CU will continue to do its best to expand sales channels for small and medium-sized partners and promote excellent Korean products overseas.”
