On the 25th (local time), TGL announced, "The first match will be held on January 7, 2025, at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, USA." The schedule ends before the major tournament, the Masters, held in April. This tournament was originally scheduled to launch on January 9, 2024. However, it was postponed by one year due to the collapse of the stadium dome roof that occurred in November last year. The SoFi Center roof, which is inflated by air, collapsed due to an electrical supply problem.

TGL is a screen golf league created by TMRW Sports, co-founded by Woods and McIlroy. In addition to the two players, participants include Kim Joo-hyung, Collin Morikawa, Patrick Cantlay, Wyndham Clark, Lucas Glover, Justin Thomas, Keegan Bradley, Xander Schauffele, Max Homa, Ricky Fowler, Billy Horschel, Kevin Kisner (all from the USA), Justin Rose, Matt Fitzpatrick, Tyrrell Hatton, Tommy Fleetwood (all from England), Lee Min-woo, and Adam Scott (both from Australia). Twenty-four players from the PGA Tour form six teams of four players each and compete in a 15-hole match team competition.

The SoFi Center is a venue equipped with state-of-the-art golf simulators. It was established by the American fintech company SoFi. The 2,322㎡ SoFi Center can accommodate 2,000 spectators. It consists of virtual courses and a short game complex that enable a new golf experience. Inside the venue, a giant screen measuring 64 feet by 46 feet (19.5m × 14m), about 20 times the size of a standard simulator screen, will be installed.
