Gijang-gun Takes First Step in 'Gijang Skywalk' Development Project

Commencement of Urban Management Plan Decision Service

Busan's Gijang-gun has launched a project to change the project site (Daebyeon-ri, Gijang-eup) into a waterfront park covering approximately 94,540㎡ as part of the urban management plan decision service to actively promote the 'Gijang Skywalk' construction project.

A skywalk is a structure installed along coastlines or mountain summits, offering a thrilling experience of walking in the sky against a backdrop of stunning natural scenery, and has become a major local tourist attraction. To provide new sights and develop tourist spots, local governments nationwide are showing great interest in constructing skywalks.

The 'Gijang Skywalk' promoted by Gijang-gun will be developed along the coastal road near Daebyeon Port in Gijang-eup, featuring observation decks, walking decks, parking lots, and more.

Near the site are the coastal area where Bongdae Mountain meets the East Sea, the Gijang Seafood Experience Promotion Center, the World Cup Memorial Lighthouse Park, and the Osiria Tourist Complex. With the construction of the skywalk, it is expected to create a positive tourism synergy effect by linking with surrounding tourist resources.

The county plans to smoothly change the urban management plan through this service and further specify the 'Gijang Skywalk' construction project to accelerate its progress.

County Governor Jeong Jong-bok stated, "We plan to design the Gijang Skywalk as a complex activity facility that the whole family can enjoy, focusing on securing competitiveness that differentiates it from other local governments," adding, "We will develop the Gijang Skywalk area into a waterfront park harmonizing with the pristine natural scenery, making it a new tourist attraction in Gijang-gun that draws visitors from across the country."
