Dukbang Cherry Blossoms, Gigang Kochia, Growing Affection in Jeongam, Gap-eul Fresh Play
From Spring to Autumn ... 30-Day 'Dukbang Cherry Blossom Festival' Held
Uiryeong-gun, Gyeongnam Province, will continue small-scale local festivals from spring to autumn, utilizing the unique characteristics and regional resources of specialized villages.

On the 26th, Uiryeong-gun announced that Jeongam Village in Uiryeong-eup, Gapeulgol in Gare-myeon, Jangbak Village in Hwajeong-myeon, and Seongsan Village in Jijeong-myeon were finally selected for the 2024 Eoullim Village Festival contest project.
The Eoullim Village Festival was first implemented in 2022 to promote harmony among residents by utilizing the village's traditions, characteristics, and resources, and to breathe new life into areas facing population extinction risks.
The selected village community festivals this time are ▲Jeongam Village in Uiryeong-eup with ‘Getting Attached to Jeongam’ ▲Gapeulgol in Gare-myeon with the ‘Sinsennol-eum Festival’ ▲Jangbak Village in Hwajeong-myeon with the ‘Hwayangje Dukbang Cherry Blossom Festival’ ▲Seongsan Village in Jijeong-myeon with the ‘Gigan Daeppsari Festival’.
The first festival is scheduled to be held first on the 30th in the Jangbak Village area of Hwajeong-myeon. The ‘Hwayangje Dukbang Cherry Blossom Festival’ welcomes tourists with the romance of the embankment road and the splendid cherry blossoms. Additionally, horseback riding experiences are available.
In May, the festival will be held in Jeongam Village, famous for Sotbawi Village. The ‘Getting Attached to Jeongam’ village festival features the ‘Jeongam Market,’ which recreates the Jeongam Namgang ferry landing, and various food and experience events using local agricultural products such as watermelon.
In October, the Gigan Daeppsari Festival awaits visitors. The Daeppsari flowers planted in the Hapgang area of Seongsan district, Jijeong-myeon, were extensively developed into a scenic complex in 2019. Known for its beauty, it is a popular tourist destination visited by more than 80,000 people annually.
In November, the unique ‘Sinsennol-eum Festival’ will be held in the Gapeulgol area of Gare-myeon. At Gapeulgol Village, surrounded by the famous local mountain Jagulsan as a backdrop, visitors can enjoy unique traditional experiences and food as if enjoying a fairy-like play while feeling the clear mountain energy.
The county supports planning and operation to ensure successful events and provides partial funding. It also conducts capacity-building education and continues year-end performance reporting.
County Governor Oh Tae-wan said, “Uiryeong-gun has many ‘colorful villages’ with unique characteristics in each eup and myeon. Small-scale village festivals with promising potential are expected to succeed,” adding, “We will do our best to support the development of small-scale festivals into representative festivals of Uiryeong.”
