5 Locations Including Noryangjin Station... Heated Chairs and BIT Combined to Enhance Resident Convenience and Safety
Dongjak-gu (Mayor Park Il-ha) announced that it has completed the installation of ‘Dongjak-gu-style boarding stands’ at five village bus stops within the district this month to enhance the convenience of village bus users and create a safe space.
The ‘Dongjak-gu-style village bus stop boarding stand’ breaks away from the existing standardized design by incorporating Dongjak-gu’s unique design, combining resident convenience facilities such as heating and cooling devices, roofs, and Bus Information Terminals (BIT).
The district first selected village bus stops without boarding stands, where only signposts were erected, or those with severely deteriorated boarding stands.
The newly installed stops are ▲Noryangjin Station ▲Donggwang Church ▲Heukseok Xi Dongbu Centreville ▲Jugong Apartment, Namdo Dormitory ▲Namseong Elementary School.
The boarding stands measure 4.1 meters in width and 2 meters in depth, allowing about 15 adults to stand or sit simultaneously.
First, the district installed windbreaks, heating and cooling devices, and heated seats so that residents using village buses in summer or winter can wait comfortably without being affected by the weather.
In particular, the heating and cooling device detects people with sensors and automatically operates cool air when the temperature is above 28 degrees Celsius and heating when below 5 degrees Celsius. The heated seats automatically activate below 16 degrees Celsius to maintain an optimal temperature of 36 degrees Celsius.
Additionally, Bus Information Terminals (BIT) that provide bus arrival times and weather information were installed, along with lighting to brightly illuminate the streets for security and nighttime scenery enhancement.
This year, the district plans to newly establish five more village bus boarding stands and repair old and damaged transportation facilities to resolve residents’ inconveniences.
Furthermore, by the second half of the year, about 70 ‘Dongjak-gu-style village bus signboards’ with improved visibility and readability tailored to residents’ perspectives will be replaced and installed.
Meanwhile, to create a pleasant environment, the district is conducting cleaning of all 80 village bus stops in the area from the 18th to the 29th of this month.
The main cleaning tasks include ▲cleaning and disinfecting the boarding stand frames and canopies ▲washing and disinfecting waiting seats ▲collecting trash around the boarding stands.
Park Il-ha, Mayor of Dongjak-gu, said, “With the installation of these Dongjak-gu-style boarding stands, residents who had experienced inconvenience while waiting for buses can now use them safely and comfortably. We will continue to carefully inspect and improve every place residents visit to ensure no inconvenience when using public transportation.”
