Plenary Meeting Held on the 25th
The Korea Communications Standards Commission issued a 'warning' to MBC Newsdesk regarding its coverage of President Yoon Seok-yeol's controversial use of profanity.
On the 25th, the Commission held a plenary meeting at the Broadcasting Hall in Mok-dong, Seoul, and decided to issue a warning to MBC Newsdesk for violating broadcasting review regulations.
The Commission imposed this sanction on the September-October 2022 broadcasts of Newsdesk that covered President Yoon's profanity controversy, citing that the program aired content favorable to MBC, including the company's stance, reporting background, and foreign media perspectives.
Additionally, the Commission issued a 'caution' regarding KBS 1AM's program 'Joo Jin-woo Live.' The program was criticized for presenting the results of a public opinion poll related to the People Power Party's party leader election in March last year, describing differences in support among some candidates as superiority without clarifying that the gaps were within the margin of error.
The YTN special program aired in July last year, 'Special - HDL, the Longevity Factor Found in Cuba,' received a 'warning' for featuring a sponsor-related individual who appeared on the show and provided advertising effects.
Edaily TV's stock investment advisory program 'Gaemi Chaja Sammanri' was given a 'caution.' This was due to repeatedly displaying and mentioning subtitles about how to enter the open chat room, which is the business location of a guest who appeared in November last year, containing commercial expressions.
