Gimpo Airport Baggage... Immediate 'KakaoTalk' Notification to Passengers Upon Suspicious Item Detection

If a suspicious item is found in the domestic terminal at Gimpo Airport, a KakaoTalk message will be sent to the passenger.

Korea Airports Corporation announced on the 25th that it will pilot this service for passengers undergoing checked baggage opening inspections at Gimpo Airport's domestic terminal. The opening inspection is a procedure where, if a suspicious item is found in the checked baggage, the bag is opened and re-inspected in the presence of the passenger.

This service operates by sending an alert message to passengers when prohibited suspicious items such as sprays or portable batteries are found in their checked baggage, guiding them to visit the inspection area immediately.

The corporation expects this to reduce the inconvenience of passengers waiting in front of the baggage inspection confirmation monitor to check whether they are subject to the opening inspection, and to minimize delays in boarding procedures caused by passengers not realizing they are subject to the opening inspection.

The pilot will first be conducted for passengers using Korean Air and T'way Air, with plans to expand to other airlines and airports in the future.
