Changwon Gyeongsang National University Hospital and Samsung Changwon Hospital
Support for Labor Costs and Medical Equipment Purchase Costs at Two Locations
Changwon City in Gyeongnam Province will urgently support the disaster management fund on the 25th to maintain the intermediate and emergency functions and emergency medical system of public medical institutions amid the prolonged collective action of doctors.
The city decided to provide 100 million KRW per hospital, totaling 200 million KRW, to Changwon Gyeongsang National University Hospital and Samsung Changwon Hospital, which are experiencing difficulties in medical care due to the resignation of residents.
The scope of support includes labor costs for extended work hours and additional hiring of essential hospital staff within the range that does not overlap with government contingency fund support (doctors, nurses), as well as the purchase of automated chest compression devices, which serve as substitutes for cardiopulmonary resuscitation to cover the shortage of medical personnel.
Currently, Changwon City has been operating an emergency medical countermeasure situation room since February 8 and has been running an expanded Disaster Safety Countermeasure Headquarters with enhanced roles and organization since February 23, focusing administrative efforts on minimizing medical service gaps.
Hong Nampyo, Mayor of Changwon City, stated, “We believe that this disaster management fund support will greatly help maintain the emergency medical system of training hospitals. If the medical service gap prolongs, we will actively consider additional support from the disaster management fund to ensure that citizens can receive medical care with peace of mind without sparing financial support.”
