Daejeon Dong-gu Selected for Regional Innovation Contest Project Addressing Local Extinction

On the 25th, Dong-gu, Daejeon announced that it has been preliminarily selected as an excellent project in the "2024 Regional Innovation Task Contest for Responding to Local Extinction," a collaborative project between the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.

The project, titled "Packaging and Distribution Logistics Industry Innovation Project," received high evaluations for planning a strategy to foster packaging and distribution logistics by utilizing regional capabilities such as the Namdaejeon Integrated Logistics Complex and the cluster of the printing industry.

The district plans to promote the project in collaboration with Daejeon Technopark.

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the Ministry of SMEs and Startups will provide tailored strategic consultations to the preliminarily selected local governments until June, and will grant additional points when evaluating future investment plans for the Local Extinction Response Fund.

Furthermore, regions selected for the final project will receive linked support from the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' business support programs and the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's Local Extinction Response Fund starting in 2025.

Park Hee-jo, head of Dong-gu, said, "Through this contest project, we hope it will serve as a catalyst to effectively respond to the crisis of local extinction, revitalize local SMEs, and create jobs."
