Gyeonggi-do, Suwon, and 27 Other Cities and Counties Expand 'Daily Care Services'

Gyeonggi Province will expand the 'Daily Care Service' project starting in April.

On the 25th, Gyeonggi Province announced that it will expand the Daily Care Service project to alleviate the daily burdens of young and middle-aged adults in need of care, as well as young family caregivers.

The Gyeonggi Province Daily Care Service provides integrated, customized support based on user needs, including in-home care, housekeeping, meal and nutrition management, and psychological support for young and middle-aged adults (ages 19 to 64) who require care due to ▲difficulty in independent daily living caused by illness, injury, or isolation ▲need for physical, mental, or social independence ▲young adults preparing for independence, as well as family caregiving youth (ages 13 to 39) who care for family members suffering from illnesses or who bear the responsibility of supporting the household.

Last year, the service was implemented in five cities and counties including Yongin City, and this year it will be expanded to 27 cities and counties including Suwon City.

The project also improved its target groups and service content, establishing a dense care safety net for young and middle-aged adults who were previously in blind spots of care.

The Daily Care Service is divided into basic services and specialized services. Basic services involve care providers visiting users' homes to provide in-home care or housekeeping services. Users can flexibly select and use services ranging from 12 to a maximum of 72 hours per month depending on the service type. Applications are possible except for those already receiving other public services such as long-term care, home nursing, veterans' home welfare, or disability activity services.

Basic services include Type A (Basic Care Type, 36 hours per month) and Type C (Additional Care Type, 72 hours per month), which provide both care and housekeeping services, and Types B-1 (Basic Housekeeping Type, 12 hours per month) and B-2 (Additional Housekeeping Type, 24 hours per month), which provide housekeeping services only.

Specialized services include a total of seven services: ▲meal and nutrition management for those who have difficulty preparing meals independently ▲psychological support for those experiencing psychological difficulties ▲hospital accompaniment service for those with mobility difficulties ▲customized rehabilitation conducted by visiting rehabilitation specialists ▲laundry service delivering large items such as bedding ▲independent living support providing future planning and financial counseling exclusively for youth and family caregiving youth ▲and youth physical health promotion including posture correction. Depending on the type of use, up to two services can be utilized.

The care service usage period is six months and can be extended up to five times after reassessment.

Care services can be applied for by the individual or a proxy at the administrative welfare center in their residential town or township. A co-payment may be required depending on income level when using the service. Once selected as a beneficiary, users can receive a National Happiness Card to access the services.

Park Geun-tae, Director of the Welfare Project Division of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "Until now, care services have mainly been provided for the elderly and children, but with the introduction and expansion of the Daily Care Service, we will support the daily lives of young and middle-aged adults who were in blind spots of care and establish a seamless welfare safety net."
