"Creating Clean Coastlines"... S-OIL Donates 50 Million KRW to 'Ulsan Sea'

S-OIL donated 50 million KRW to help create a clean sea in front of Ulsan.

On the 23rd, S-OIL announced that it delivered the ‘Public-Private-Ulsan Coastal Underwater Cleanup Support Fund’ to the Korea Maritime Rescue Association at the Dong-gu Bangeojin Port branch of the Ulsan Maritime Rescue Association.

On that day, about 200 people including S-OIL, Ulsan area volunteers, honorary marine monitors, and youth reporters carried out coastal cleanup activities at Bangeojin Port.

The 50 million KRW project fund provided by S-OIL will be used to support personnel such as the Coast Guard Special Rescue Unit and private divers from the Korea Maritime Rescue Association, as well as to operate equipment for underwater cleanup activities including cranes and water motorcycles. The Ulsan Coast Guard plans to lead and support marine pollution prevention education and safety during underwater cleanup activities.

More than 200 people, including S-OIL, volunteers from the Ulsan area, honorary marine monitors, and youth reporters, are taking a commemorative photo after conducting coastal cleanup activities at Bangeojin Port.

Along with the fund delivery ceremony, a plaque unveiling ceremony for the Ulsan branch of the Korea Maritime Rescue Association, an organization that assists the Coast Guard’s rescue and salvage operations in the event of major marine accidents in the Ulsan waters, was held at Dong-gu Bangeojin Port.

Park Seong-hoon, head of S-OIL’s division, who attended the event, said, “Since 2023, S-OIL has been practicing ESG management activities by conducting Ulsan coastal cleanup activities with public-private organizations and employees directly participating. We will spare no support to the public and private sectors so that Ulsan citizens and fishermen can live in a pleasant environment.”

Jung Wook-han, chief of the Ulsan Coast Guard, said, “We will actively cooperate with related organizations to carry out continuous cleanup activities to prevent marine pollution,” and added, “We will develop various marine pollution prevention activities such as publicity and education to raise awareness of the importance of marine environment conservation.”

S-OIL, together with the Ulsan Coast Guard and the Ulsan branch of the Korea Maritime Rescue Association, plans to carry out a total of six coastal underwater cleanup activities at Ulsan area ports and harbors including Dong-gu Bangeojin Port, Ulju-gun Gangyang Port, Onsan Port, and Jeongja Port, starting with the coastal cleanup activity at Dong-gu Bangeojin Port on the 23rd.
