Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon urged efforts to create a world where pets and people can be happy together on the 23rd, marking 'International Dog Day.'

In a post on his social media (SNS) that day, Governor Kim introduced, "At Banryeomaru in Yeoju, Gyeonggi Province, 5.15 million rescued dogs have found new families," adding, "Recently, retired military dogs ‘Yerang’ and ‘Yoonji’ also started new lives here."

He continued, "Not long ago, there was a petitioner requesting the rescue of animals suffering in dark and cramped spaces in an indoor zoo," and said, "After a citizen petition, those animals were transferred to another zoo where they now live in sunny outdoor spaces."

Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon posted a message and photo on his SNS on the 23rd to mark International Dog Day.

He added, "A society where animals are happy is also a society where people are happy," and "Today is International Dog Day. I hope that not only dogs but all companion animals in the world live happily together with people."

Yeoju Banryeomaru is a complex cultural space for companion animals directly operated by Gyeonggi Province, officially opened on November 11 last year. Situated on a 95,790㎡ site, it includes one cultural center, three shelter buildings, and one management building, and conducts programs such as ▲ protection and adoption of abandoned animals ▲ operation of an animal hospital ▲ life respect education, grooming, training, and training programs for companion animal professionals.

In particular, starting this year, to foster the companion animal industry, it supports related university field training, industry-academia recruitment briefings, and operates companion animal cultural festivals.
