Seocho-gu Commemorates 'World Water Day' with Children's Ecological Environment Education
District Holds Children's Ecological Education at Yangjaecheon Riverside Park on 22nd
Over 130 Participants Including 2nd Generation 'Seocho Carbon Zero Guardians' Children Pledge Water Conservation and Participate in EM Mudball Throwing Activities

Seocho-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jeon Seong-su) conducted ecological environment education for children on the 22nd at the Yangjaecheon Riverside Park area.

Seocho-gu prepared this event to commemorate the United Nations (UN) designated 'World Water Day (March 22 every year)' and to inform future generations, the children, about the importance of water and the practice of water conservation.

About 130 people attended the event, including around 100 daycare children and teachers from the 2nd group of 'Seocho Carbon Zero Keepers' and about 30 members of the Green Seocho Environmental Practice Group. From 10 a.m. for one hour, programs such as writing water-saving pledge postcards and attaching them to large balloons, and making EM mud balls to throw into Yangjaecheon were conducted.

In particular, Seocho-gu Mayor Jeon Seong-su acted as a 'one-day ecological instructor,' measuring the water pollution level of Yangjaecheon with a simple water quality tester and answering questions about the flora and fauna living nearby, providing a time to raise awareness of the importance of a clean water environment.

This year, along with operating the 2nd group of 'Seocho Carbon Zero Keepers' to learn and practice environmental protection and carbon neutrality, the district plans to accelerate the creation of a 'sustainable clean city Seocho' through various educational and participation programs such as the '1st Seocho-gu Environmental Education Week' in celebration of Environment Day (June 5), 'Environmental Instructor Training and Capacity Building' education for residents, and the out-of-school permanent environmental education program 'Seoripul Climate School.'

Mayor Jeon Seong-su, who participated in the event, said, "I hope our children, who are the hope and pride of Seocho, realize the importance of water through today's event and consistently practice water-saving habits."
