Recruitment for Local Elementary School Students in Grades 4-6, Ages Matched, from March 25-29
Not Just Simple Art Education, but Supporting Students' Creativity and Infinite Potential Expression
Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) is recruiting the 12th class of new students for the ‘Gwanak Creative Arts Gifted Education Center,’ operated in collaboration with Seoul National University College of Fine Arts as part of an academic cooperation project.
Established in 2013 by Gwanak-gu and Seoul National University College of Fine Arts, the Gwanak Creative Arts Gifted Education Center is an educational institution that discovers talented young artists and supports systematic art education, serving as a stepping stone for youth to grow into artists.
Having produced a total of 512 graduates to date, the center welcomes its 12th class this year. In particular, to discover talents without blind spots, the recruitment target has been expanded to include out-of-school youth, students of alternative schools, and homeschool students.
Additionally, based on accumulated operational know-how, the center runs a creative convergence-type arts gifted education program designed to cultivate core competencies for future society in line with the 4th Industrial Revolution era.
At the same time, the district plans not only to provide simple art education but also to hold an exhibition of students’ works before graduation to help express their creativity and infinite potential.
The recruitment targets are elementary school students in grades 4 to 6 residing in Gwanak-gu and youth of the same age group. The number of recruits is ▲Basic Class: 30 students (new recruitment) ▲Advanced Class: 15 students (for 2023 graduates).
All courses are free of charge, and the education period runs from May to October this year. The program includes field trips to art museums and art centers, theory, and practical training, conducted on Saturdays and during vacation periods in lecture rooms at Seoul National University College of Fine Arts.
Applications are accepted from March 25 to March 29. The district will announce the results of the first document screening on April 8, conduct the second screening (practical evaluation and in-depth interview) on April 13, and announce the final successful candidates on April 22.
For more details, inquiries can be made to the Seoul National University Gwanak Creative Arts Gifted Education Center and the Gwanak-gu Education Support Division.
A district official stated, “We will continue to actively support our students to grow into leaders who lead change and innovation in culture and the arts through specialized art education programs utilizing Seoul National University’s excellent human and material resources.”
