Shinyoung Asset Management announced on the 22nd that it held a general shareholders' meeting and board of directors meeting and appointed Um Jun-heum, Vice President of Shinyoung Securities, as the new CEO.
New CEO Um Jun-heum joined Shinyoung Securities in 1991 and has accumulated extensive practical experience and expertise in bond management. He later led the approval and promotion of new over-the-counter derivatives businesses and served as the head of the division overseeing institutional sales of various financial products, including derivatives.
In particular, when Shinyoung Asset Management was established, Um was part of the Investment Trust Department at Shinyoung Securities, responsible for investment trust sales system and organizational setup, contributing to laying the foundation of Shinyoung Asset Management. Having managed various assets such as bonds, stocks, and commodities for over 30 years at Shinyoung Securities, Um is recognized as a leading asset management expert in the industry.
Um Jun-heum, CEO of Shinyoung Asset Management, stated, "True value investing is about practically generating long-term and stable returns to prove that value." He added, "We will strengthen qualitative analysis capabilities beyond the book value of companies and establish processes to integrate these into asset management, enabling sustainable growth aligned with the rapidly changing investment environment and capital markets."
He also said, "Since its founding, Shinyoung Asset Management has aimed to be a true value investment asset management company, prioritizing customer value above all." He emphasized, "For the sustainable development of Shinyoung Asset Management, we will deepen our understanding of the essence of value investing, manage customers' assets stably, and continue the long-standing legacy of Shinyoung Asset Management as a 'house of value investing.'"
Meanwhile, last December, Shinyoung Asset Management obtained approval from the Securities and Futures Commission to become a comprehensive asset management company, enabling it to expand its product range to include real estate and mixed assets.
