Hyundai Motor Securities holds two unique titles as the 'only securities company' related to family-friendly systems. One is that it has been selected three consecutive times since first obtaining the 'Family-Friendly Certification' administered by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family in 2017, and the other is that it has received an integrated A grade for four consecutive years in the ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) evaluation by the Korea ESG Standards Institute, specifically in categories assessing employee working environments. The integrated A grade is the highest rating among securities companies. On March 21, Han Seok-hee, General Manager (Executive Director) of Hyundai Motor Securities' GWP Office, whom we met at the Hyundai Motor Securities headquarters located in Yeouido, Seoul, emphasized, "The strength to work with immersion comes from the family." Holding the belief that 'a good working environment comes from family-friendly management,' he is a key figure at the center of Hyundai Motor Securities' corporate culture that balances work and family life.

Below is a Q&A with General Manager Han.

- The organization is named GWP. What does it mean?

▲ GWP stands for Great Work Place. Under the GWP Office, the company uses team names reflecting important values such as 'trust' and 'pride.' The management is committed enough to incorporate core values into the organization’s name. When company members trust each other, flexible use of family-friendly systems and work-family balance become possible. Based on this, improved job satisfaction has led to increased 'pride' in work, as proven by HR-related statistical results.

- How do you strive to create a family-friendly corporate culture?

▲ We encourage employees’ families to participate in organizational culture activities. As employees’ families visit the company and build relationships, all family members come to know and understand the company. Additionally, we operate a company YouTube channel that includes employees, their families, and even their pets. Voluntary participation from families of employees with diverse backgrounds has allowed members to share emotions directly and indirectly. This deep bond among the company, employees, and families greatly helps foster a corporate culture of mutual care and respect.

- Could you introduce Hyundai Motor Securities’ distinctive policies for work-family balance?

▲ We extend welfare benefits to employees’ families. For employees to feel efficacy in their work, family support is essential. We share in the growth of employees’ children through gifts celebrating childbirth and school entrance. Furthermore, employees recognized for their performance are provided with overseas trips accompanied by their families. In other words, we offer 'quality time with family.' Through this, we hope employees can recover and heal their tired bodies and minds from work.

- How satisfied are employees using the flexible work system?

▲ Their work concentration is definitely better. There was a time when the term 'quiet quitting' was popular, referring to employees who only think about the tasks assigned and do not put in more or less effort. Their bodies are at the company, but their minds are elsewhere. Before the flexible work system was established, employees with young children especially struggled to focus on work. Now, with the development of a family-friendly corporate culture, much has changed. Employees flexibly work to raise their children and concentrate more on the same tasks.

- Why is it important to balance work and family?

▲ Employees come to work and immerse themselves in their tasks, then go home with tired bodies to recharge their energy. Ultimately, the place that provides employees with the strength and sustainability to work is their family. Believing in the positive effects of family-friendly systems, we will lead the creation of a corporate culture where employees can work happily.
