HD Hyundai, 23rd Anniversary Memorial Event for Founder Chung Ju-yung

Unveiling Ceremony of Founder’s Bust at Global R&D Center

HD Hyundai held a memorial event to commemorate the 23rd anniversary of founder Chung Ju-yung, honoring his life and spirit in Asan.

On the 21st, HD Hyundai announced that it held a founder’s bust unveiling ceremony and the 23rd anniversary memorial service on the 5th floor of the HD Hyundai Global R&D Center (GRC) in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province. Chairman Kwon Oh-gap and Vice Chairman Chung Ki-sun of HD Hyundai, along with CEOs from various affiliates, attended the event.

In his memorial speech, Chairman Kwon said, "We are holding the unveiling ceremony of the founder’s bust at the GRC, the cradle of technology development," adding, "We will do our best to carry on the founder’s will and make HD Hyundai a respected company."

Vice Chairman Chung stated, "Just like the founder who always challenged without giving up or despairing, HD Hyundai is also writing a new history of challenges," and pledged, "We will go beyond being the world’s number one shipbuilding company to create a better future for humanity."

The attendees paid tribute by laying flowers and observing a moment of silence in front of the founder Chung Ju-yung’s bust, reflecting on his legacy. On the founder’s anniversary, HD Hyundai set up a memorial space throughout the day, allowing employees and visitors to freely lay flowers and pay their respects.

Memorial events were also held in Ulsan and Yeongam. HD Hyundai Heavy Industries held a memorial event in front of the founder’s bust located in the Ulsan headquarters and aired a special memorial video through the company’s internal broadcast. Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries held a bust unveiling ceremony on the first floor of the Yeongam headquarters, honoring the founder’s spirit.

Meanwhile, HD Hyundai’s key executives visit the founder Chung Ju-yung’s ancestral grave located in Changwoo-dong, Hanam, Gyeonggi Province every year. On the 16th, CEOs from various HD Hyundai affiliates also visited the founder’s grave to pay their respects and honor his legacy.
